Make time for your writing.

I finished my novel!

I finished it. I finished it. I finished it.

Our school programming may change, as my time and attention is pulled in unknown future directions. As a result, you should know that this might be the last year that I run The Story Intensive as planned.

So if you’ve been considering the program, this might be your last chance for a while.

I wrote this novel by getting up at 5am in the good times and the bad, when friends were visiting, when my mom was in the hospital, when we were moving from the city to the country. Whenever I managed to close the door on real life, I would write 1000 words. They added up.

I wrote this book by making time for my writing.

Not to be too on point or anything, but I teach you how to make time for your writing in The Story Intensive.

This is what writers must do, in order to write. I talk more about time in this video:

I promise I will announce what happens next — i.e., when you can read the new book — as soon as I can. I’m working on the final revisions now.

I’m excited for what’s to come, and I’m also preparing to clear the calendar for the time I will need to give to my novel.

Look ahead. What does your September look like?

Can you make 5-6 hours a week to focus on your writing? If so, I’d like to get you situated in The Story Intensive now, so you can make a solid plan for your writing this fall and winter.

There’s a lot of interest in this program as usual, but this year registration closes just before summer gets rolling. That time is right now, my friend!

To be in The Story Intensive, you must enroll by this Friday, June 23, 2017.

We can set up a payment plan that works for you.

More questions?

I’m holding office hours this Wednesday and Friday, taking your questions by phone. [Note, office hours for the 2017 Story Intensive are now over and the links below are no longer available].

Office Hours work like this: you sign up for the appointment using this link. I call you at the number you give me. We talk for 10 mins — you tell me your particular situation, where you are in your writing right now. The Story Intensive might be perfect for you, but it might not! I promise to honestly help you make the best decision.

Book your Story Intensive Office Hours appointment here.

Warmly,

ps. I’m here with you. If you’re struggling to make time, balance your triple-threat life as a writer, breadwinner, and parent and/or caregiver, and it feels like you’re missing the secret code that would make it all work evenly and make sense so you could live the writer’s life you dream about, you’re not alone. This school is a safe place to be real about this stuff. Leave me a comment below and tell me what is making you feel shaky or confused about your writing at this moment, and I’ll send you resources to help, if I can.

[Note: The 2017 Story Intensive is now over. See our current offerings, here.]
